Terms
Polis Press. Last updated 1 September 2026.
The plain version of what you may expect from us and we from you.
What this is
Polis Press publishes editions of books that are out of copyright, together with our own editorial apparatus: summaries, notes, subject tags and descriptions of the illustrations.
The original texts are in the public domain and we claim nothing over them. The apparatus we wrote is ours. Quote it, cite it, teach with it; please do not republish it wholesale as though it were yours.
Your account
An account is for one person. Keep your password to yourself, and tell us at [email protected] if you think somebody else has it.
You can stop using an account at any time and ask us to delete it. We may suspend one that is being used to attack the site or to harm other readers, and we would rather write to you first.
Using the site
Read as much as you like. Automated collection heavy enough to degrade the site for other readers is not welcome, and neither is any attempt to reach parts of it that are not yours.
What we do not promise
We try to keep the site up, correct and available, and we do not guarantee it. This is a small publisher, the service is provided as it is, and things occasionally break.
We do promise to say so when a text is corrected: an edition records what it changed and why.
Changes
If these terms change we will change the date at the top. Continuing to use an account after that is how you accept them; if you would rather not, ask us to close it.
